Our Story

Sometimes love takes its time finding the perfect moment.

Picture of Sometimes love takes its time finding the perfect moment.

Joe, from Las Cruces, and Mariah, from Alamogordo, first crossed paths on a dating site in April 2023. They started talking and quickly realized they had a connection—but both knew the timing wasn’t quite right. They parted ways, not knowing that fate had plans to bring them back together when the moment was meant to be.

On January 1st, 2024, they matched again—this time, everything just clicked. The conversations flowed easily, filled with laughter and sincerity, and soon after, they decided to meet in person.

Their first date on January 13th began with breakfast, followed by coffee and a stroll through the Las Cruces Farmers Market. What was supposed to be a simple morning turned into hours of walking, talking, and realizing just how natural it all felt.

Their second date was just as meaningful—lunch and a walk through the park, where the conversation never seemed to stop. With every story shared and every smile exchanged, they both knew this was something special.

By January 21st, they made it official. Joe and Mariah were a couple, and their story had truly begun.

From there, they shared countless adventures and memories—visiting the zoo in Alamogordo, enjoying date nights at 575 Brewery, exploring the zoo in El Paso, relaxing at the Rio Grande Winery in Las Cruces, and cozy evenings at Cloudcroft Brewery. They even returned to the Farmers Market, full circle, to celebrate their one-year anniversary where it all began.

In April 2024, they began attending Christ Community Church together. Their shared faith became a cornerstone of their relationship, helping them grow closer not just to each other, but also to Christ.

In March 2025, Joe made the move to Alamogordo and started a new job. Living in the same town allowed them to build a beautiful community of friends through church and continue growing in love and faith together.

Then, on November 8th, 2025, surrounded by the breathtaking beauty at the top of the mountain in Ruidoso, Joe got down on one knee and asked Mariah to spend forever with him.

And of course—she said yes.

Now, their story continues—rooted in faith, love, and the perfect timing that brought them together when they were truly ready.

Wedding Party

Becky Young
Becky Young - Matron of Honor
Hello, I'm Becky, and Mariah and I met in May, 2025. From the very beginning, it's felt like instant sisterhood. Rarely in life do you stumble into such a sweet, effortless friendship, and I'm so grateful for ours. We bonded fast during Sunday night community group meetings, growing through conversation about faith and family. We also bonded on the dance floor to a little song called Copperhead Road. I am so excited to celebrate this next chapter of her life!!!!
Forrest Powell
Forrest Powell - Best Man
I’ve known Joe since we were in diapers, and it’s been a privilege to go through life with him—from tackling house projects to freezing together on countless camping trips. I’m now married with two wonderful kids, and I’m honored to stand by Joe on his big day.
Shelby Brown
Shelby Brown - Bridesmaid
Hi, I’m Shelby — the bride’s sister. We became family when my mom married her dad, and even though distance and busy lives have kept us from being as close lately, she’s always felt like my little sister. I’m a mom to twin boys and a happy wife, and I’m truly excited to see Mariah getting married. I’m honored to stand by her side and celebrate this beautiful moment in her life.
Nate Pelzel
Nate Pelzel - Groomsmen
Best friends since middle school, Nate and Joe have been inseparable ever since—through awkward teenage years, high school adventures, and now into adulthood. A self-taught coding wizard, Nate spends his free time building cool electrical gadgets (often with the help of his trusty 3D printer), setting up gaming servers so the crew can battle it out online, and being an absolutely incredible husband to his wonderful wife Erica and father to their three amazing daughters: Ella, Emmy, and Addy. He’s the kind of guy who’ll drop everything to help a friend, and Joe is beyond grateful to have him standing by his side on the biggest day of his life.
Brittni Wenck
Brittni Wenck - Bridesmaid
I’m Brittni, one of Mariah’s bridesmaids and best friends. We met through community group from church and have developed a special bond since! We haven’t been friends long, but it’s felt like years with how we’ve instantly connected. I’m so excited to share this special day with her and Joe and watch their love flourish with God at the center!
Chris Wenck
Chris Wenck - Groomsmen
Chris is a Father, Husband, and a big goofball. He met Joe while starting a bean farm and they bonded over their love of pop culture and God’s word. He wears his heart on his sleeve and is so excited to be a part of Joe and Mariah’s love story!
